private in the company at 41 years of age. He died of Disease 
March 2, 1864 at Hood Hospital, Covington, Newton County, Georgia, while 
in confederate service with the 36th Alabama. He is buried at the Confederate
Soldiers Cemetery on the Oxford College Camplus, Newton County, Georgia. 
John's service records sometimes abbreviate his first name to "Jno". John
is discribed as 6 ft. 1 in. in height; Complex: Sallow; Eyes: Hazle; 
Hair: Auburn; Occupation: Black Smith.
