Last Updated 10/04/2003

Site Updates Notices.

The site's primary focus is Union and Confederate Prisoners held in Civil War Prison Camps. The intent of the site is to provide a helpful resource for students, researchers and decedents who want to learn about the Prisoners and Prison Camps of the Civil War. This site is also a collection of resources developed for internet presentation or presented on the internet at other web locations.

This site is a part time personal effort and support is provided on an available time bases.

The site is designed to provide five possible informational resources:

  1. The searchable prisoner database.

This database is a collection of prisoner names and information related to their experiences from many sources including internet submittals. The database is a work in constant development and growth. As with any listing there will be errors. The information is provided here to assist others who may pass this way in their search. But, this information is just a start or clue and must be researched properly by the individual using it.

    Site Update Notices

Should you need to change information contain in the databases or correct an e-mail address, send a request to the Web Master. Try to indicate the prisoner ID number from the database when requesting information change or update. If the change is an e-mail address, give both old and new address so all links to the old address in the database can be corrected.

Postings are updated on a time available bases. Every attempt is made to keep postings current. However, uncontrollable events may prevent timely update from time to time. Please allow from 4 to 6 weeks for your posting to be included. As this is still a personal web site, posting are not automatic and are individually processed into the database.
You can add your information to the database by simply using one of the submittal forms provided.

  2. 07/21/2004, the message board services on this site have been discontinued. I am unable to keep the message board clean of advertisement and objectionable content. Therefore I have discontinued them. I am sorry to have to do this, as the message boards are a good place for exchange of information.

  3. Prison Camp informational web pages.

This site attempts to collect and provide basic informational web pages on each Civil War Prison Camp location. As you can expect this is an ongoing project requiring many hours of research and development. This effort will be an ongoing process for a long period of time.

  4. Links to other internet sites related to Civil War Prisoners or Prison Camps.

(Sorry this service has been discontinued)

There are many sites with good, well developed web pages for some Civil War Prison Camps. Many of the Prison Camps were military forts or other government complexes prior to or during the Civil War and have a rich full history outside of their use as prison camp. Several organizational effort to preserve these sites are ongoing and some have developed into national parks etc. This site attempts to collect these web site links for your use.

  5. Inquiry by e-mail submittal to the site's researcher.

Inquiries are answered when the information requested is available. Some inquires require a great deal of research and as this site is a part time personal effort inquiries requiring additional research are not always answerable. However, inquires not answered are kept on file in the hope that the information requested may become available over time.

    Please send inquires here.
